2nd Island Course, Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, 27 November 2025

The 2nd Island Course was held at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research on 27 November 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The event was organised by two projects funded through the NPOO 2021–2026, NextGeneration EU: “Ethnographies of Islandness – Island Heritage and Environmental Futures as Pillars of the Development of Island Communities (BAŠOTOK)” (Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, Project Leader: Dr Marina Blagaić Bergman) and “Ethnographies of Islandness – Island Migrations, Mobilities and Identifications (ETNOTOK)” (Institute for Migration Research, Project Leader: Dr Ana Perinić Lewis).

The Island Course brought together collaborators from both projects, as well as researchers from other institutions engaged in island studies. The project leaders of BAŠOTOK and ETNOTOK presented the results achieved so far, after which each collaborator and participant presented their current island-related research and projects.

Dr Nenad Starc presented research on the terminology of island studies based on questions posed to participants of this year’s symposium 13th Anatomy of the Island, held in Jelsa.
